What Muslim’s Follow

By: Triple A (أحمد عبد ٱلأول)

Say we believe in Allaah and what sent down to us and what sent down to Abraham and Isma'il and Isaac and Jacob and the tribes and what given to Moses and Jesus and what given to The Receivers from their Lord no distinction we of one among them and we to him submit  2:136

O you who believe obey Allaah and obey The Deliverer and those in command among you,

if you dispute in anything refer it back to Allaah and The Deliverer if you believe in Allaah and the last day,

that is better and best for interpretation  4:59

Muslim’s are quick to say that we are to follow The Qur’aan and The Sun’a (of Muhammad), but what does that really mean?  If that is true, then should it not be based on what Allaah has commanded us in Al Qur’aan?  Study the two aayatun above for they really say a great deal.  The first aayaat tells us what we should believe, and, that we should make no distinctions between any of Allaah’s Receivers.  The second aayaat tells us whom to obey, and any disputes should go back to Allaah and The Deliverer – no name given for which Receiver - for proper resolution.

Firstly, there are not any aayatun in Al Qur’aan commanding us to follow Muhammad’s sun’a.  Secondly, if we are commanded to make no distinction between any of Allaah’s Deliverers than the sun’a of all The Deliverers is to be followed.  Thirdly, where would we find the sun’a of each of Allaah’s Deliverers, what reference would we use?  Fourthly, if we were even able to find the valid sun’a of each of The Deliverers, we would have to follow all of them.  Fifthly, we are also to “obey those in command among you” (4:59), now we have additional sun’a to follow – those of the ones in command amongst us.  Sixthly, the number of sun’a we would therefore have to follow would be infinite and consequentially impossible.  If we couple the preceding with the following aayatun, I believe the shroud that has covered our thinking begins to come off and clarity emerges.

Say obey Allah and the Deliverer  3:32

You certainly have in The Deliverer of Allaah an excellent example  33:21

Certainly you have an excellent example in Abraham and those with him  60:4

What begins to emerge is the Muslim’s pattern of disregarding what they do not wish to address from Al Qur’aan.  Why do they fixate on 3:32 and ignore 4:59, why the fixation on 33:21 and not of 60:4?  Aayatun 3:32, 4:59, and 33:21, do not mention any names of the Deliverers of Allaah however; Muslim’s have taken it upon themselves to declare that 3:32 and 33:21 are absolutely only about Muhammad.  It would therefore make sense that Muhammad is the particular Deliverer referred to in 4:59 also, but what about “those in command among you”, are we to ignore whom they might be, as has been done?  What is the rationale for disregarding 60:4 where Allaah clearly tells us who is the excellent example, Abraham, and not only Abraham but additionally “those with him”?  Moreover, should we continue to disregard 2:136 – and disobey Allaah – by our making distinctions between his Deliverers?  Are not 3:32 and 33:21 the justifications for “follow The Qur’aan and The Sun’a”?

I have said it before and I will say it again, Shaytaan is subtle, and we best beware of his tricks to mislead us.  We must be ever vigilant for the slightest irregularity in our thinking and obedience with respect to Allaah and his word, Al Qur’aan.

You think about it, decide for yourself.  Does “follow The Qur’aan and The Sun’a” really make sense, especially in light of no aayatun in Al Qur’aan to support this bidaa – and bidaa it must be since it is not from the word of Allaah, Al Qur’aan?  What do you want to comply with - “if you believe in Allaah and the last day” - bidaa, or haqq?
